The Stoked Residence, designed by North Architecture Studio and built by HR Pacific, is located in Golden, British Columbia, overlooking the Columbia Valley. Now nearing completion, the project is defined by its mass timber structure and precise coordination between architecture, material, and site.
The home’s structural system combines glulam beams and columns with cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels. Together, these elements form both the framework and the architectural language of the residence. The foyer features glulam beams that transition from horizontal roof elements to vertical supports, emphasizing the connection between structural clarity and craftsmanship.
Corten steel siding is being installed; its natural patina develops to contrast with the light timber frame and glazing. The weathered surface anchors the home within its alpine setting. Board-formed concrete foundations and retaining walls secure the structure to the sloped terrain, providing a durable base that complements the timber and steel above.
Inside, the envelope and interior assemblies are progressing. The exposed mass timber, steel detailing, and layered ceiling planes create a rhythm that frames views of the surrounding mountains. HR Pacific continues to coordinate construction with precision, ensuring alignment with the architect’s design intent and the conditions of the mountain site.
